The Streaming Giant Casts Spot-On Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is set to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.

The platform declared this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bentham. This character has the ability to change into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their main hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role reinterpreted as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and cartoon version.

The new cast member joins several other recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to life, including head Sir Crocodile, played by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and a familiar face, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Even though the role is a major member of the group, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this marks a significant shift in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the role. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is due to premiere for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
